“Voices Unfiltered” is an upcoming book project dedicated to shattering the deep-rooted stigmas surrounding Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD). Sian Marsden is currently writing a book about their life and diagnosis, having lived experience of complex mental health. As a woman living with BPD/EUPD, this project is deeply personal. Sian knows firsthand the weight of the daily struggles, the intense emotional storms, and the painful stigma that often comes from society and even the healthcare system. Alongside sharing their own raw, lived experiences within these pages, their goal is to create a collective platform for other women whose stories deserve to be heard, bringing honesty to a collection of first-hand accounts detailing how women navigate this disorder and how they have truly been treated by the world around them.

Their ultimate goal is to:

  •  Humanise the diagnosis beyond clinical textbooks.
  •  Expose and challenge systemic biases and medical stigma.
  •  Provide comfort and validation to other women fighting this disorder, ensuring they know they are not alone.

Who they are looking for:

  • Individuals who identify as women (including trans women) who have a formal or working diagnosis of BPD or EUPD
  • People willing to share their personal truth regarding:
    • The internal realities of living with intense emotional dysregulation
    • Your direct experiences (both positive and negative) with mental health professionals, treatment, and society
    • Your journey toward self-acceptance, coping, or recovery

Note: You are welcome to contribute under a pseudonym (false name) if you wish to remain entirely anonymous. Only your ages will be used if you chose to take part.

Expected commitment from participants:

  •  Submitting a written personal essay/creative piece, roughly 500 to 2,000 words (depending on your comfort level), in your own time

Closing date to apply: Wednesday, 1st July 2026

The team understands that living with BPD/EUPD can make fixed commitments stressful. To ensure a safe, accessible, and trauma-informed space, they offer total flexibility.

Your anonymity is guaranteed and your privacy is paramount. No real names or identifying details will be published without explicit, signed consent.

Format Adjustments: They accept typed text, voice notes, or live video/audio calls.

Aftercare Sensitivity: You will have full final approval over how your story is framed and edited before the book goes to print.
