University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is inviting adults to take part in a short online survey about chest X-rays and artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used to support chest X-ray interpretation in healthcare. This survey asks for people’s views on trust, safety, communication and acceptability when artificial intelligence is used in chest X-ray care.
- The survey forms part of the CREAITED Research Study. CREAITED stands for Chest Radiograph Evaluation with Artificial Intelligence Timing, Eye-tracking, and Diagnostic decision making.
- The survey is anonymous to the research team and does not ask for names, contact details or other direct personal identifiers. The findings will be analysed and reported at group level.
- The study has received a favourable ethics opinion from Essex Research Ethics Committee and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust Sponsor approval.
Who they are looking for:
- Adults aged 18 years or over
- The survey is open to patients, carers, members of the public and healthcare professionals, including NHS staff
- People can take part if they live in the UK or have used UK healthcare services within the last five years
- No specialist knowledge or experience of chest X-rays, clinical imaging or artificial intelligence is needed
Expected commitment from participants:
- Taking part involves completing one anonymous online survey
- The survey takes approximately 10–13 minutes to complete and can be completed online at a time convenient to the participant
- The survey includes short screening questions so that participants are directed to the questions most relevant to them. It includes structured questions and optional free-text questions
- Participation is voluntary. People can stop the survey at any time before submitting their responses. Once responses have been submitted, they cannot be withdrawn because they are anonymous to the research team
- There is no meeting, interview or travel involved
Closing date to apply: Monday 3 August 2026
The survey is online and can be completed remotely at a time convenient to the participant. The survey is written in plain English, and no specialist medical or technical knowledge is needed. The survey uses screening questions and separate pathways so that healthcare professionals, patients, carers and members of the public are shown relevant questions. To keep responses anonymous to the research team, participants are asked not to include identifying information about themselves or anyone else in their answers.
