Shaping Our Lives are working with Anglia Ruskin University social work school to involve people in their teaching and courses. We are looking for people who have experience of social care services, this does not need to be experience of social work services but could be another area of social care.

Some of the activities will be in person at the Anglia Ruskin University campus in Peterborough. For this, you will need to be able to travel to the university in less than two hours. You may live in one of the following areas: Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Rutland, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Lincolnshire and parts of Essex.

Other activities such as taking part in student admissions as part of a selection panel are done remotely so you could live further afield but would need to be confident using Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

The service user group will meet quarterly and there will be other activities such as sharing experiences with students, role-playing with students, co-producing course activities and helping with recruiting the right students.

You will need to be:

  • Interested in working with a university on social work education courses.
  • Have lived experience of using social care services.
  • Live within two hours travelling time of the university in Peterborough to take part in face-to-face activities.
  • You can live further away but will only be able to take part in remote activities so will need to be confident at using Zoom and/or Teams.

Timing: starting in September 2023
