Role Overview
We’re looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially minded Head of Engagement who can channel the Deetu approach of doing things differently, leading on engagement strategies that help form engaged communities and create informed places.
The role will have responsibility for business growth within the engagement team, creating new business opportunities beyond our current offering and strengthening existing relationships. The Associate Director role will require an innovative and commercially astute leader with substantial account management skills who will help grow Deetu’s Engagement, Consultation and Communications services both externally and within the wider BWB Consulting business.
The role will require an individual with a passion for delivering exemplar stakeholder engagement and public consultation, using Deetu’s digitally led approach to inform concepts and masterplans; ultimately to facilitate evidence-based place making.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for business growth of the engagement team, creating new business opportunities beyond our current offering and strengthening existing relationships.
- Working with the wider multi-disciplinary BWB Group, supporting the growth of the stakeholder engagement service.
- Mapping key stakeholders on projects, creating meaningful engagement strategies and execution plans.
- Developing themes, core messages and collateral for multiple audiences and stakeholders, including digital users, the media, local communities, statutory bodies, technical groups, and elected representatives.
- Liaising with internal and external clients, ensuring a high level of Client service and ensuring accurate, timely reporting.
- A requirement to provide support and line management of colleagues within the engagement team.
What you’ll bring
- A degree or masters in a relevant background subject
- A proven aptitude for building relationships, managing clients and delivering business growth.
- Experience in delivering communications and consultation activities on Development Consent Orders (DCOs) and large planning applications.
- A deep understanding of the planning process and how stakeholder and community engagement plays its part.
- Experience from delivering engagement and consultation services in the UK property, infrastructure or built environment industry is essential.
- Strong project management, organisational and line management skills.
- A demonstrable ability to understand, interpret and present complex information in a communications setting.
