WheelieQueer are a disabled-led, Deaf-led, LGBTQ+ specialist welfare benefits organisation in NorthTyneside. They are becoming a Community Interest Company in early 2027. They are looking for two people who will form their first board alongside their founder: one with finance, governance and risk experience, one with people, safeguarding and organisational development experience. Across both, they want meaningful understanding of Deaf, disabled and LGBTQ+ communities. Please note they are not looking for benefits expertise — that is already on the board.

Expected commitment from participants:

  • Four meetings a year,
  • Remote by default,
  • British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation at every meeting.

Access arrangements organised and paid for by the organiser rather than claimed back. Travel and out-of-pocket expenses are covered.
