Georgie is a Trainee Clinical Psychologist working in the NHS and conducting research at the University of Oxford on the similarities and differences between Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Orthorexia Nervosa. The aim of the study is to improve understanding of how these eating difficulties overlap or differ, so that identification, clinical understanding, and therapeutic support can be improved.
Georgie is inviting individuals to take part in a completely anonymous online survey that takes around 15–20 minutes to complete (with no time limit). The study has been co-produced with two experts by experience to ensure it is accessible, relevant and sensitive to difficult topics. It has full ethical approval from the University of Oxford (MS IDREC 1687235).
What they are looking for:
They are looking for adults aged 18+ with any of the following experiences to complete the survey:
- A diagnosed eating disorder
- Eating difficulties that are not formally diagnosed
- In recovery or post-recovery from an eating disorder
- Identification with the term “orthorexia”
- No self-identified eating difficulties
Because the survey covers sensitive topics (e.g., eating and mental health), please only take part if you feel comfortable. There is no obligation to complete the survey once started.
Expected commitment from participants:
- Completing a single anonymous online survey
- The survey takes 15-20 minutes to complete but there is no time limit
- The survey can be completed at a time and place that suits you
Closing date to apply: ongoing
The research has been co-produced with experts by experience to promote accessibility. An accessible version of the participant information sheet is available to download. If you would like to complete the survey but require specific adjustments, please get in touch by email: georgina.hobden@univ.ox.ac.uk. They will do their best to help you take part.
