The Role

Public Engagement Officer (x2)- Fixed term until 30 September 2027

The Public Engagement team are seeking two Public Engagement Officers to deliver aspects of the School of Advanced Study’s public engagement programme. The roles will have primary focus on supporting the newly developed Centre for Public Engagement Practice in the Arts and Humanities. They will also provide support for Being Human Festival and public engagement work across the School.

The two roles will work closely together whilst having specific areas of focus within the Centre’s work. For at least one of the roles we will be seeking to appoint somebody with extensive experience in community engagement and a strong understanding of how to build relationships with communities.

The postholders will work closely with the Public Engagement Programmes Manager, Director of Strategic Programmes and Engagement and the Chair of Public Understanding of the Humanities, and all members of the Public Engagement team. The postholders will work with researchers across the UK who are taking part in the Centre’s activities and Being Human Festival.

The post holders will be required to work proactively and collaboratively, communicate with internal and external stakeholders and work on multiple workstreams simultaneously.
